LifeCycle Pharma A/S

Dr. William J. Polvino has been named president and chief executive officer of LifeCycle Pharma. He was previously the company’s chief operating officer.

“We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Polvino has accepted the position as CEO and President of LCP,” said Paul Edick, LCP’s chairman. “During his relatively short tenure at LCP, Dr. Polvino has contributed to the progress in our clinical program and showed strong leadership in the organization in order to make best use of the opportunities and challenges of LCP’s current and future product pipeline,”

Dr. Polvino was appointed chief operating officer in August 2009 and brought extensive experience in the senior management of pharmaceutical companies together with solid experience in clinical as well as product development. Prior to joining LCP he was chief executive officer at Helsinn Therapeutics US. Previously, in his capacity as the president and chief executive officer of Sapphire Therapeutics, he successfully advanced the company’s pipeline products, ultimately leading to the sale of the company to Helsinn.

He joined the life science industry in 1991 and held various positions of increasing responsibility within clinical research, drug development, and senior positions at Merck, Wyeth, Theravance and Sapphire.
